I am sorry for posting in here, but I was wondering if someone actually went in person to the Houston Consulate to get their passport renewed. Also, do we need to have any reason to attend in person at the Consulate such as emergency, etc.
I am from India and my passport is expiring on Aug 17. I read before in the forum that it is better to go in person to renew the passport. Any experiences please let me know.

I heard contrary to what you mentioned about the fingerprints being valid only for 18 months. I think someone had posted a document from USCIS site that said that they have digitized FPs and can reuse them without having to do fingerprinting every 18 months. She HAS to use AP. There is no choice of entering on F1. If she enters using F1 visa, it means she has abandoned her I-485. It will create problems later during I-485 adjudication.
Once she enters on AP, she loses F1 status immediately. Then, she should inform her school. School will terminate her F1 status in the SEVIS database.
She can continue studying showing I-485 receipt. EAD card will be her evidence of status.
Once in I-485 AOS status, she will be eligible for resident tuition fees and will no longer have to pay non-resident tuition fees.

I missed the last rally and I regret it. There was a moment in time when we were all really energized. The flower campaign was brilliant. But now we seem to have lost that fire - me included! I dont even remember my dates anymore. I know we have a serious problem of getting people together for anything. But starting small in our own cities and connecting to a national IV would probably work. I am here in Sterling Heights, MI (Detroit Metro Area) and I am willing to host people in my area It will be great if others in other cities can do that too. I am dre. ming, but think about it if this works. We can march to washigton again such large numbers that everyone will notice. I really think its time to get together and do something. Bouncing ideas on IV boards is great but lets meet and get to know each other and see if can talk about this problem face to face across the country. Thats what grassroot effort it!. If nothing, we will find new friends in each other. I hope to find that fire in us again and I thank you for reading my post!

If your EAD applications are pending more than 90 days and you need ombudsman's assistance, the following steps should be take:
Step 1: Call USCIS National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-(800) 375-5283 and record the time/date of the call and the name/number of the customer service representative: Explain to the customer service representative that your EAD has been pending more than 90 days and ask for a �service request.� You should receive a response to your service request within a week.
OR Ask the customer service representative to request an interim card for you. You should receive an EAD or response within a week.
Step 2: If you choose to visit a local USCIS office, schedule an INFOPASS appointment to visit that office on www.infopass.uscis.gov. At the appointment, ask to apply for an interim EAD. Note that USCIS local offices no longer issue interim EADs. The local office can review your case and determine eligibility. The local office will forward your request to the USCIS service centers. You should receive an EAD or response within a week.

Now after AC21 - Two RFEs on that - gap in EAD I have received a notice for initial interview. It basically says: -
Who should come with you?
if the petition is based on your marriage, your petitioner spouse.
if the petition is based on parental relationship, your sponsoring parents or child.
What should you bring with you.
All EADs, Travel documents, all I-94s etc.
Originals and copies of All the supporting documentation submitted with the application.
Birth certificates.
Letter from current employer and last IT returns.
We have not received any notice for my wife. There is no LUD on any case for last one month. And the case is at national benefits Center, interview in Atlanta. I am just confused. What does this mean? What is meant by all supporting documentation submitted with the application?
I am completely confused, worried and getting tense. Can anyone throw some light on this please????????????????

You have a decent amount of money in your account(s) and the bank should be obliging you. If I were you I would take my money out of the account and deposit it in a bank close to where I live (BOA has branches all over the US so that might be a good option) and then get a letter from that bank. You can then send this letter along with the statements for the last six months from the previous bank. Don't let this stupid bank treat you like this; if they are not giving you the letter then they don't deserve your business. Go to the local branch of a bank and tell them that you want to open and account and move $12000 from the other bank; there is a good chance they will give you a letter for free.

I understand ur problem, let us fix one by one, Ideally you are supposed to apply ur H1B atleast before 1 month, at the same time you can apply ur H1B extension within 45 days after expiry date with a genuine reason. As your Attorney to show proof and have him apply for H1B. Once you receive your receipt number you are still on H1B, if there is a way try to get it done in premium process.
Now coming to using EAD, once you start using it, as far as my little knowledge goes you should not come back to H1B.

We have discussed this issue earlier on this forum.
IV really wishes that this is possible but the truth is that when CIR has already been passed in the Senate, there is no way that Frist (or any other senator for that matter) will allow for the introduction of another immigration bill now.
So if we need to proceed with a legal immigrant's only bill, we will atleast have to wait till CIR dies. So don't get your hopes high now.
