Been in the US since 1998, have an EB-2 PD of 2001, have played by the rules all along. Still no GC... And, the dates are going back to 2000 from the new year.. I've lost hopes...
I'm pretty close to getting clinical depression because of this game played by USCIS, Labor Dept, FBI and my own bad luck.
SKILL bill, OMNIBUS, etc. comes and goes. IV does seem to be doing things to lobby for the community, but let's face one reality. Like a news article said, no one in congress or senate wants to touch immigration even with a long pole until 2009.
The US has been very good to me (other than the GC part), more than my home country (India) which is why I'm still here.
Have invested too much of time in this country to just pack up and go. Just curious if any of you feel this way? How do you handle such depressing feelings?
We also came here in early 99. One of our friend came 98 and renewed ead 3 times. One of my husband's colleague is here since 95. My husband's coworker s from his first/second employers who came during same time are close to get citizenship. If my husband wouldn't have switched his jobs for his carrier advancements and salary then we also would have applied for citizenship by now. But we don't regret our decision at all. We feel sad sometimes but depressed by not getting GC by now, instead we spend that energy in advancement of our skills and carrier. We have many people among our friend circle who are waiting for GC for many years but we decided to enjoy our life as much as we can and not to bring any GC related depression in our life. If you have such friends among you then it becomes very easy to get out of this depression.

Actually I have often thought about this situation, and I thought the answer is the family will have to return to their home country.

I'm in very similar situation. My dates were available for June as well. My HR/Attorneys did this long and painful bureaucratic process. We have an internal website which says that my case was �filed� on Jun-29th. Don�t know what the fuck that means. Whether it was sent on 29th or received on 29th? Couldn�t get HR to answer.Don�t have direct communication lines with Attorneys... If it�s sent on 29th, does USCIS take packages on Saturday or Sunday? If they take only on Monday, will they throw it out because it reached in July? Oh well, just have to wait and see...
exactly the same situation as mine. Attorney was an A#%$%OLE.. gave all documentation on first day of june, and the sucker filed it on June29th reaching USCIS on july 2nd.

got approvals for wife and myself today
PD Jan 22 2006.
Infopass on Aug 3rd said everything is good to go.
opened SR no.1 for primary on aug 4th, was told cases were assigned on aug 3
Level 2 cust service said cases pre-adjudicated.
Reply to SR no.1 was standard - wait for 30 days.blah blah.
Congressman inquiry said cases assigned to officer.
opened SR no.2 for dependent on Aug 19.
i think the Aug 19 SR did the trick.

Not sure about the GreenCard Application because the link is not working. However, USCIS has shown significant improvement in handling H1B application for this year. They conducted lottory for 163K application in just one week and also honoring the premium processing timeframe.

We have requested an appointment be scheduled for you to complete biometrics. A notice will be sent when a time becomes available.
If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.
Please remember: By law, every person who is not a U.S. citizen and who is over the age of 14 must also notify the Department of Homeland Security within 10 days from when they move (persons in "A" or "G" nonimmigrant status are exempt from this requirement). If you have moved, please complete a Form AR-11 and mail it to the address shown on that form. If you do not have this form, you can download it from our website or you can call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 and we can order one for you. I am waiting for FP .Even I have called TSC having intention to open SR ,i got the reply all files are up to date and they can not open SR for FP ...Files indicate that FP is complete.(God knows what they mean,whose fingerprint they have on my file) ....I have not given any FP so far except at the PORT of entry .

In your analogy you are forgetting the company (USCIS) still promoted that Test Lead to Manager even though he wants all those benefits from the very first day(INA law).
